KanCare Educational Activities about HCBS (I/DD) Inclusion

UPDATED WITH LOCATIONS AND TIMES

In September 2013, the State of Kansas held a series of educational meetings focused on informing stakeholders in the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Home and Community Based Service waiver. This educational tour took place in four cities across Kansas from September 23-26.

Consumers and their families and friends, targeted case managers, and services providers were encouraged to attend.

This educational tour was dedicated to helping KanCare members and providers of long-term intellectual and developmental disability services with questions they have regarding the upcoming full inclusion into KanCare on February 1, 2014. Representatives of the three KanCare Managed Care Organization (MCOs) were in attendance.

2012-2013 Rapid Response Calls

The KanCare Rapid Response Calls were conducted from late 2012 through June 2013. During this call, we welcomed consumers, providers and other stakeholders to join the phone line and ask questions about their individual needs pertaining to the transition to KanCare. Issues discussed on each call have been tracked in the State's KanCare Implementation Issues Log.

2013-May Meetings for Consumers Receiving Long-Term Services and Supports

We want to hear from you about KanCare! If you get long-term services and supports (LTSS) through the KanCare program we want to hear from you and your family about how it is going.

All LTSS consumers and their families are invited to a meeting.  If you have questions, please call 1-866-305-5147. If you need help because you are blind or deaf or speak Spanish, please call Cindy Stortz at 785- 296-4753. You can also email us at KanCare@kdheks.gov. You must ask for this help by noon on May 13th.  We cannot provide transportation to the meetings.  We will have two meetings on the same day in each of the cities we visit.  Meetings will be in the afternoon and evening.  You can come anytime between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM for the afternoon meeting.  You can come anytime between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM for the evening meeting.  You do not have to stay for the full two hours.  Please see the dates and places below.  We look forward to seeing you there.  These meetings are for you to give us your thoughts.  They are not required.

2013-February and March Educational Tour Meetings

Meetings were held for KanCare consumers in February and March to assist consumers with questions after the launch of KanCare.  Meetings were held in Dodge City, Manhattan, Winfield, Topeka, Garden City, Salina, Parsons, Kansas City, Fort Scott, Olathe, Hays, and Wichita.

2013-September Educational Tour

The second round of meetings for Consumers took place Sept. 24-27 and included meetings in Manhattan, Pittsburg, Colby, Dodge City, Atchison, Chanute, Russell, Pratt, Olathe, Emporia, Hutchinson and El Dorado, in addition to a Teleconference.

August 2012 Educational Meetings (Aging and Disability Services)

KanCare educational meetings for current Medicaid consumers and providers in KDADS-administered programs were held August 21-31, 2012.  Meetings were held at seven locations around the state over a period of two weeks.
