Recognition and Award Updates
IT Solutions Management for Human Services (ISM), an affinity group for the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) announced the Kansas Department of Health Environment (KDHE) received the Best Use of Technology for Customers – External Focus for Kansas Medicaid’s proactive communication for medical reviews. The award recognized the innovative use of technology to enhance and expand external service delivery with a focus on a public-facing outcome, while demonstrating a new service to customers or filling the gap in existing services. The award was presented to KDHE during the ISM for Human Services Education Conference & Expo.
Program Updates
The Working Healthy program attended multiple events across the state during the month of September. From wellness fairs to tabling at conferences, the team provided resources and information to spread the word about the Working Healthy, WORK and STEPS programs. In addition, the team has been gearing up for National Disability Employment Awareness Month which will be recognized during the month of October. Learn more about the Working Healthy program.
System Updates
The Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) implemented updates to the Kansas Modular Medicaid System (KMMS) at the beginning of the month. The updates have enhanced the user experience and system functionality. In addition to the updates to KMMS, KMAP will also begin servicing Electronic Data Interface (EDI) transactions effective October 15, 2025. Users currently accessing Provider Electronic Solutions (PES) will no longer have access to PES software due to the end of Microsoft support for Windows 10.
Legislative Activities
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will present to the Robert G. (Bob) Bethell Joint Committee on Home and Community-Based Services and KanCare Oversight on Oct. 14 and 15, 2025.
