As last year came to an end, the KanCare program revisited accomplishments. During the 2025 year, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment – Division of Health Care Finance:

  • Implemented new managed care contracts and onboarded a new managed care organization, Healthy Blue.
  • Began a comprehensive rate study and added results to the KanCare site.
  • Created KanCare website access for the Kansas Medicaid state plan.
  • Received the Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) Model Grant.
  • Received recognition from IT Management for Human Services.
  • Created provider solutioning group to address providers concerns.

In addition to overall program accomplishments, the bureaus within the Division of Health Care Finance implemented Electronic Visit Verification (EVV), the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) hub and the OneKansas Hub. They also expanded their knowledge of and engagement with partner agencies like the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) and the Department for Children and Families.

The Working Healthy program created promotional materials for ongoing marketing efforts for the program while the clinical team made Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment (EPDST) a focus, hired additional staff and focused on best practices for utilization management.

The Division of Health Care Finance is extremely proud of the accomplishments made this year and will continue to work toward supporting Kansans. The year ahead will continue efforts for improved services and planning next steps for KanCare.
