With tax season approaching, the Kansas Medicaid program has announced a change in process regarding 1095-B tax forms. The Kansas Medicaid program will no longer automatically send forms to consumers as the forms are not required for filing income tax returns. Forms must be requested via email or phone. Grant Activities

The KanCare program secured a $4.6 million grant awarded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to implement a continuity of care strategy for Medicaid- and Children’s Health Insurance (CHIP)-eligible Kansans during and after incarceration. The Continuity of Care for Medicaid and CHIP Beneficiaries Following Incarceration grant will focus on activities to support the implementation of youth re-entry requirements from the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) of 2023. The KanCare program intends to focus efforts on establishing standardization for reliable, safe and efficient information sharing methods between entities that support care transition and treatment coordination. Legislative Activities (State and Federal)

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services presented to the Robert G. (Bob) Bethell Joint Committee on Home and Community-Based Services and KanCare Oversight on January 23, 2026. KDHE presented a variety of topics including the impact of the Rural Health Transformation Grant and KanCare 3.0. KDHE thanks the Committee for their time and dedication.
