Next Steps

Currently, KDHE has requested a one year extension of the KanCare 1115 waiver from CMS. Under the new timeline, before the 1115 waiver comes up for renewal, the State will issue a request for proposal (RFP) for Managed Care Organizations (MCO) to submit bids to provide health insurance to Medicaid recipients for the following three years after the new contract goes into effect. KDHE plans to conduct additional public meetings in the future to gather consumer input on the new RFP, which will form the foundation of the contracts with the MCOs.
