Effective January 1, 2024, the requirement for electronic visit verification (EVV) transactions, currently used for home and community based services (HCBS), will be extended to include home health care services (HHCS) for home health visits.
Electronic visit verification utilizes mobile-based technology to validate caregiver visits by capturing visit data as required by section 12006 of the 21st Century Cures Act. Once EVV is required for HHCS home health visits, those claims will not be processed without an approved and validated EVV transaction.
The State of Kansas will continue to provide an EVV application that will be available to providers and caregivers at no charge.
In addition, the State of Kansas has selected a providers’ choice model whereby providers have the option to use third-party EVV applications, once the application is authorized by the State of Kansas.
